Did You Know?
- •The name translates from Gaelic as 'The Big Black Crags', referring to the dark, shattered buttresses that fall away from the summit into the glacial trough of Glen Einich below.
- •Although it is a Munro Top of the higher Sgòr Gaoith, walkers often prefer this spot for its superior view of Loch Einich, which sits tucked far below the cliffs under the massive, sprawling shadow of Braeriach.
- •The peak marks a dramatic geological boundary; to the west, the land slopes gently toward Glen Feshie, while to the east, the plateau simply ends in a precipice that requires a very steady head in high winds.
- •Standing at a numerically pleasing 1,111 metres, the hill seems built for symmetry, yet it remains eternally relegated to 'Top' status by its neighbor Sgòr Gaoith, which manages to be just seven metres taller.
