Terms and Conditions for TrailTrack.co.uk
Last updated: 27 July 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of TrailTrack.co.uk (the "Website" or "Service"), including any member accounts, features, and subscription levels we provide. The Website is operated by the TrailTrack team ("we", "us", or "our").
By accessing, registering for, or using the Service in any way (including subscribing), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
1. Who we are
TrailTrack.co.uk is operated by the TrailTrack team. For contact: team@trailtrack.co.uk.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or such higher age as required in your jurisdiction). By using the Service, you confirm you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
If you are under 18, we recommend discussing subscriptions with a parent or guardian before signing up.
3. Member Accounts
- To access certain features (such as uploading and viewing GPX routes), you must create a member account by providing accurate information (name and email).
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure, including your password. Do not share your account details.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these Terms, security risks, or other valid reasons.
- Account deletion: When you delete your account, it enters a 30-day recovery period. During this time your account and data are retained and you can recover your account simply by logging back in, or by clicking the recovery link sent to your registered email address. After 30 days, the account becomes eligible for permanent and irreversible removal from our systems.
4. User-Uploaded Content (GPX Routes and Other Files)
- You may upload GPX route files to your member account.
- You retain ownership of any GPX routes or other content you upload ("Your Content"). By uploading, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and make Your Content available to you and, where you choose to make it public, to other members.
- Public activities: When you set an activity to Public, other registered members may view and download your GPX file. You can disable GPX downloads on a per-activity basis in the activity settings, or set a default preference in your account settings.
- Location privacy: You can hide your precise start and end location from other members using the "Hide start & end location" option in each activity's privacy settings. This trims a short section from each end of your visible route.
- All GPX routes are private to your account unless you explicitly set an activity to Public. We will never access, use, analyse, share, copy, or process Your Content for any purpose other than providing the Service to you, unless you give us explicit, separate consent.
- You confirm that Your Content does not infringe any third-party rights (e.g., copyright, privacy) and is not unlawful, harmful, offensive, or misleading.
- We may remove or disable access to any content that breaches these Terms, without notice.
- Community-submitted GPX routes are not checked or endorsed by TrailTrack unless we expressly label them as verified. Uploaders must not describe routes in a way that is unlawful or knowingly misleading, and everyone using a community route should independently assess current access, conditions and suitability.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose.
- Upload viruses, malware, or harmful code.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or systems.
- Scrape, copy, or extract data from the Website without permission.
- Harass, impersonate, or mislead others.
- Interfere with the Service's operation.
We may suspend or terminate access for any breach.
6. Intellectual Property
- The Website, its design, text, graphics, and code (excluding Your Content) are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws.
- You may view and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only. No reproduction, distribution, or commercial use without our written permission.
7. Subscriptions and Paid Features
- We offer three subscription levels: Free, Standard, and Premium. Details of features, pricing, and differences are shown on the Website or in your account dashboard.
- Subscriptions are annual, paid in advance, and will auto-renew each year on the anniversary of your purchase unless cancelled.
- Pricing is displayed inclusive of any applicable VAT. You authorise us (or our payment processor) to charge your chosen payment method annually in advance.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time via your account dashboard — cancellation prevents auto-renewal and takes effect at the end of the current annual period (no refunds for partial years unless required by law, such as the 14-day cooling-off period for digital services).
- We may change pricing, features, or subscription levels with reasonable notice (e.g., via email or site announcement). Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
8. Route Information, GPX Files and Liability
- TrailTrack route descriptions, maps, elevation information and GPX files are provided as planning and navigation aids. They are not a guided service or a guarantee that a route is currently safe, accessible or suitable for a particular person or activity.
- We take reasonable care when preparing TrailTrack editorial routes, but paths, rights of access, diversions, land use, hazards, weather and ground conditions can change after publication. A route's displayed update date records when its guide was last changed; it does not confirm conditions on the day you use it.
- Before setting out, you should check current weather, access restrictions, diversions and local notices; choose a route appropriate for the experience and fitness of your party; carry suitable equipment; and carry an independent means of navigation. A phone, GPS device or GPX file should not be your only means of navigation.
- If the route, access or conditions differ from the guide, follow lawful local signs and restrictions and use your own judgement. Turn back or change your plans when continuing would be unsafe.
- Community-submitted routes are the responsibility of their uploaders and are not checked by TrailTrack unless expressly marked as verified. We may review, correct, hide or remove route information reported as unsafe, inaccessible, unlawful or misleading.
- Please report a suspected route problem promptly to team@trailtrack.co.uk. We will assess reports and may add a warning, amend the guide or temporarily remove the affected download while it is reviewed.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service or that every technical or mapping error will be detected. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, breach of your statutory rights, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms or for any other reason, with or without notice. You may close your account or cancel subscriptions at any time via your dashboard.
10. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
