About Creag Dhubh

Rising above the hamlet of Fersit, this 604m Tump offers a rugged, pathless ascent typical of the Loch Treig area. While often overshadowed by neighboring Munros, its position provides an excellent vantage point over the West Highland Line and the deep, dark waters of the loch below.

Did You Know?

  • The name is Gaelic for 'Black Crag', a common descriptive title likely referring to the dark rock outcroppings visible on its steeper south-western slopes.
  • Situated directly above the West Highland Line, the summit offers a unique perspective of trains navigating the remote stretch of track between Tulloch and Corrour.
  • To the east, the hill is dwarfed by the massive bulk of the Munros Stob Coire Sgriodain and Chno Dearg, which form a high mountain wall behind it.
  • Falling just six metres short of the 610m threshold required to be a Graham, the hill is largely left in peace by peak-baggers in favour of its loftier neighbours.
