About Bryn Du
Rising to 562 metres in the northern reaches of the Berwyns, this rounded heathery summit offers a quieter alternative to the range’s higher peaks. The ground is often damp and pathless, but the reward is an uninterrupted view across the Dee Valley toward the Clwydian Range and the distant limestone scars of Eglwyseg.

Did You Know?
- •The name translates from Welsh as "Black Hill," a common descriptor for summits dominated by dark heather and peat rather than the greener slopes of neighboring valleys.
- •It is often reached via a high-level traverse from Moel Fferna, following the watershed fence that provides a useful navigation aid across the featureless plateau.
- •Looking south-west from the top, walkers can trace the main Berwyn ridge toward the peaks of Cadair Berwyn and Post Gwyn.
- •True to its name, the "Black Hill" usually lives up to its title by ensuring your trousers are stained a dark, peaty shade of grey by the end of the walk.
