About Knocksculloge [Cnoc na Scolog]
Rising above the Tar River valley on the northern edge of the Knockmealdowns, this heathery Tump offers a quiet perspective away from the range's higher peaks. Its rounded summit provides an excellent vantage point across the Golden Vale toward the formidable sandstone wall of the Galtee Mountains to the north.

Did You Know?
- •The Irish name Cnoc na Scolog translates as the 'Hill of the Farmers' or 'Smallholders.' The term scológ historically referred to a tenant farmer or a person of modest means, suggesting these lower slopes were more intimately connected to local agricultural life than the wilder high summits.
- •Positioned on the northwestern fringe of the range, it offers clear, low-level views of Slievenamon and the Comeraghs that are often obscured by larger massifs when standing on the higher Knockmealdown peaks.
- •While its name suggests a hill belonging to the working man, the ascent from the road south of Clogheen is mercifully short enough that you won't have to put in a full shift to reach the top.
