About Lack Mountain
Situated on the south-eastern fringes of the Dingle Peninsula, this 463-metre Tump offers a quieter alternative to the dramatic peaks further west. The ascent over rough, peaty grass rewards walkers with clear views across Castlemaine Harbour towards the distant MacGillycuddy’s Reeks on the Iveragh Peninsula.

Did You Know?
- •The name is an anglicisation of the Irish word 'Leaca', meaning a slope or a stony hillside, a common topographical term for the angled flanks found in this part of Kerry.
- •The summit provides an excellent vantage point to see the three-mile long sand spit of Inch Beach stretching into the waters of Castlemaine Harbour to the south.
- •It is frequently climbed in conjunction with its northern neighbour, Brickany, to create a circular route above the village of Annascaul.
- •While the peak's modest height often keeps it below the heavy Atlantic cloud base that hides Mount Brandon, the local terrain ensures your boots will still receive a thorough soaking in the peat.
