Did You Know?
- •The name is derived from the Irish 'Binn na Sruthail', which translates to 'Peak of the Stream', likely referring to the various watercourses that drain from its slopes into the valleys below.
- •It is situated in the north-eastern section of the Blue Stack Mountains (na Cruacha Gorma), a range known for its wild, granite-based terrain and extensive peat moorlands.
- •The summit offers specific views of its higher neighbour Croaghgorm to the southwest, as well as the remote, uninhabited expanses that characterise this part of the range.
- •Attempting this hill without a map and compass is a bold move; the lack of any established paths means you will be spending a lot of quality time negotiating heather and the occasional deep peat hag.
