Sgulan Beag

A modest Dodd rising to 538 metres on the Morvern peninsula, south of Loch Sunart. The hill forms part of the remote and lightly-visited landscape characteristic of this quiet corner of the western Highlands, where woodland and rough moorland dominate the terrain and solitude is virtually guaranteed.

• •The name derives from Scottish Gaelic 'Sgùlan Beag', meaning 'little stack' or 'small cone', with 'beag' being the common diminutive form suggesting this hill sits in the shadow of a larger neighbour or nearby feature.
• •Morvern remains one of Scotland's most sparsely populated peninsulas, with the entire area home to fewer than 300 residents, making any ascent here a genuine exercise in remote hillwalking despite the modest height.
