- •The name translates from Gaelic as the 'Peak of the Corrie of the Small Lochs'. This refers to the high hanging valley on its northern side, where small, icy pools sit cradled beneath the towering rock walls of the Great North Face.
- •It is widely regarded as one of the finest 'non-Munros' in the country. At 1,115 metres, it is significantly taller than many primary peaks, but because it is connected to Bidean nam Bian by a high col, it misses out on full Munro status.
- •The hill is a cathedral of Scottish winter climbing. Its three massive northern buttresses—West, Central, and East—offer some of the most reliable and atmospheric ice and mixed climbing in the Highlands, often holding snow long after the glen floor has turned green.
- •From the summit, the view directly across the Great Pass of Glen Coe to the serrated skyline of the Aonach Eagach is one of the most iconic sights in the Grampians, revealing the full, jagged scale of the ridge’s 'Crazy Pinnacles'.
- •Many walkers, exhausted by the steep ascent from the floor of Glen Coe, reach this summit and celebrate having conquered the area's highest peak, only to realize the true summit of Bidean nam Bian is still a rocky half-mile trek to the south.
