Did You Know?

  • The name is Gaelic, translating as 'Peak of the Notch,' referring to the prominent 'eag' or cleft visible in its skyline from the coastal approaches.
  • From the summit, the view across the water to the Isle of Raasay and the distinctive flat-topped Dun Caan is particularly sharp, framed by the broader sweep of the North West Highlands.
  • Despite its modest height, the hill’s position at the edge of the Attadale Forest makes it an excellent spot for tracking the movement of red deer, which frequent the lower slopes between the peak and Loch Carron.
  • Its status as a Tump ensures you are more likely to share the summit with a passing golden eagle than another human, provided you can navigate the pathless, boot-stealing bogs at its base.
