Did You Know?

  • The name is Gaelic for 'The Peak of the Cleric' or 'The Parson’s Peak'. While the specific individual is forgotten, such names often identified local parish boundaries or landmarks for travelling ministers crossing between the Fannichs and Loch Broom.
  • Positioned north of the higher Munros, the summit offers an exceptional profile view of the massive eastern corries of Sgùrr nan Clach Geala, which are hidden from those walking directly on the main ridge.
  • On a clear day, the northern vista across the Dirrie More allows for a distinct sighting of the Assynt peaks, with the unique outlines of Stac Pollaidh and Suilven visible over twenty-five miles away.
  • For many hillwalkers, this summit is primarily known as a useful navigational handrail for the long descent off the Fannich ridge back toward the road when the cloud closes in.
