Did You Know?

  • The Gaelic name Mullach a' Chadha Bhuidhe translates as 'Summit of the Yellow Pass,' likely referring to the seasonal colour of the mountain grasses that dominate the surrounding moorland.
  • The hill stands as a prominent sentinel over the Rhidorroch River, offering a clear view of the long glen that stretches towards the remote interior of the North West Highlands.
  • Despite its modest height, the terrain is notoriously heavy-going; the mix of deep heather and peat hags means that every meter of ascent is hard-earned.
  • The summit offers a specific, celebrated view of the 'Big Three' of Coigach: the distinctive silhouettes of Stac Pollaidh, Cul Beag, and Cul Mor are visible to the northwest.
  • Navigating the 'Yellow Pass' itself often involves more shades of saturated brown than the name suggests, particularly for those who stray from the few deer tracks into the surrounding peat hags.
