About Meallanan Odhar
Rising above the A93 north of the Glenshee Ski Centre, this high Grampian shoulder provides a breezy vantage point over the rugged Corrie of Caenlochan. While often crossed en route to the Munro of Glas Maol, its plateau-like summit offers clear, uncrowded views across to the craggy ridge of Creag Leacach.

Did You Know?
- •Derived from the Scottish Gaelic Meallanan Odhar, the name translates as 'the dun (or brownish-grey) little hills,' referring to the rolling, peat-covered character of the high ground connecting this top to the larger mass of Glas Maol.
- •The summit overlooks the Caenlochan Glen, a National Nature Reserve prized by botanists for its rare arctic-alpine flora and frequented by large herds of red deer that move between the high plateaus and the valley floor.
- •It is a common stop for walkers traversing the eastern side of the Cairnwell Pass, acting as a natural gateway to the more dramatic eastern cliffs and plateau of the Mounth.
- •The hill provides a front-row seat to the industrial scale of the Glenshee Ski Centre; on a windy day, the rattling of stationary chairlifts is often the only thing competing with the elements.
