About Meall Glas Choire

Resting on the eastern shoulder of the Sròn a' Choire Ghairbh ridge, this Munro Top offers a broad, grassy contrast to the steeper crags nearby. It serves as an exceptional balcony over the Great Glen, providing clear sights down to Loch Lochy and across the water to the Lochaber giants.

Did You Know?

  • The name translates from Gaelic as the 'hill of the grey-green corrie', likely referencing the verdant, steep-sided Coire Glas which bites into the northern side of the ridge.
  • Though often overlooked in favour of the main summit of Sròn a' Choire Ghairbh just over a kilometre to the west, it provides a superior perspective of the steep, heathery slopes falling away into the Great Glen.
  • From the summit, the view across the Caledonian Canal to the Grey Corries and the northern flanks of the Ben Nevis massif is particularly striking on clear days.
  • Walkers typically reach this point by ascending the historic zig-zag stalkers' path from Kilfinnan, a route engineered so well that you gain height almost without noticing the effort.
  • Given its proximity to the parent Munro, many walkers only visit this top because they’ve already done the hard work of the climb and it would feel like a clerical error to leave it out.
