- •The name originates from the Gaelic Beinn Earb, which translates as 'Hill of the Roe Deer', a reference to the wildlife common in the surrounding glens.
- •Most walkers approach the hill from the Spittal of Glenshee, following the track up Glen Lochsie past the ruins of the old lodge before ascending the southern slopes.
