Elrig

A modest Dodd rising to 588 metres in the Ochil Hills of central Scotland, positioned above Glen Devon. The summit offers views across Strathearn to the Highland edge. Typically climbed from the north as part of a circuit taking in neighbouring Dodds along the rounded ridgeline that characterises this quiet section of the range.

• •The name Elrig derives from Scottish Gaelic 'An Eileirg', meaning 'the deer run', suggesting this was historically a known route or favoured path for red deer moving through the Ochils.
• •The hill sits within a cluster of similarly-heighted Dodds north of the A823, making it a natural addition to a longer ridge walk rather than a standalone objective.
• •From the summit on a clear day, Ben Vorlich and Stùc a' Chroin are visible to the northwest across Strathearn, with the Lomond Hills marking the eastern horizon beyond the Firth of Forth.
