Blar Achaidh

Rising to 515 metres in the Perthshire hills north of the Ochils, this modest summit qualifies as both a Dodd and Tump. The terrain is characteristic of this rolling upland country, with moorland grass and heather dominating the approach. Views extend across the upper strath country towards higher Grampian peaks to the north.

• •The name Blar Achaidh derives from Scottish Gaelic, combining 'blàr' meaning a plain or field, often boggy ground, with 'achadh' meaning field or pasture – essentially 'the field of the field', suggesting this was grazing land distinguished by its flatness in otherwise undulating terrain.
• •The summit sits at grid reference NO064668, placing it in the transition zone between the gentler southern uplands and the more dramatic Highland massifs visible from its top.
