Did You Know?
- •The name Baosbheinn is likely derived from the Gaelic 'baoth', meaning wild or foolish, leading to the common translation 'Mad Mountain', although it is also frequently referred to as 'Wizard Hill'.
- •The peak forms part of an impressive five-kilometre ridge of Torridonian sandstone, a rock so ancient that its layers were deposited hundreds of millions of years before the arrival of complex life on Earth.
- •The summit provides one of the most celebrated views in the Northwest, looking directly over the deep trough of Loch na h-Oidche toward the 'Triple Buttress' of Coire Mhic Fhearchair on Beinn Eighe.
- •The approach through the Flowerdale Forest is famously sodden; the local terrain is less of a path and more of a testing ground for the structural integrity of modern waterproof gaiters.
