About Sgurr Beag
Tucked deep within the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, this rugged peak sits on the high ridge between Sgùrr Mòr and Sgùrr nan Coireachan. Despite its name, it is a substantial summit, offering a sense of total isolation and dramatic views over the winding waters of Loch Quoich and the surrounding wilderness.

Did You Know?
- •The name is derived from the Scottish Gaelic Sgùrr Beag, meaning 'Small Peak'. It is named in direct contrast to its immediate and higher neighbour to the west, Sgùrr Mòr ('Big Peak'), which stands 113 metres taller.
- •Most walkers reach the summit as part of the demanding 'Glen Dessarry' round, a long circuit usually starting from the road end at Loch Arkaig and traversing several major peaks in the area.
- •The summit provides an exceptional vantage point for viewing the complex topography of the Knoydart peninsula, including the deep trough of Glen Kingie and the jagged skyline of the 'Garry Three' to the north.
- •Standing at 890 metres, it is just 24 metres short of Munro status; to the weary hillwalker tackling the steep, rocky ascent from the pass at Bealach Bhuidhe, the 'Beag' part of its name can feel somewhat like a personal insult.
