About Biod an Fhithich North Top
Rising steeply above the head of Loch Duich, this sharp-crested ridge provides a striking introduction to the Kintail mountains. While often overshadowed by the neighbouring Five Sisters, its position offers an exceptional perspective over Shiel Bridge and the tidal waters where the loch meets the glens.

Did You Know?
- •The name is Gaelic for 'Peak of the Raven', likely a reference to the craggy, broken cliffs on its western side that provide ideal nesting sites overlooking the pass of Mam Ratagan.
- •The North Top is a significant vantage point for the Five Sisters of Kintail; the view across the glen toward the soaring ridges of Sgùrr na Ciste Duibhe and Sgùrr na Carnach is arguably better here than from the main glenside.
- •It sits at the historic gateway to the Glenelg peninsula. The old road over the Mam Ratagan pass climbs the shoulder of this hill, following the route once used by drovers moving cattle from Skye to the southern markets.
- •Despite its modest height, the western face is steep enough to suggest that the cartographers might have squeezed the contour lines a little closer together than was strictly necessary.
