About Tom Odhar
Rising above the village of Tyndrum, this broad, heather-covered hill offers a surprisingly commanding perspective of the Crianlarich Munros. Often overlooked in favour of its loftier neighbours, the summit provides an accessible vantage point over Strath Fillan and the West Highland Way snaking through the valley floor below.

Did You Know?
- •The name comes from the Scottish Gaelic 'Tom Odhar', translating as 'dun-coloured hill'. This describes the muted, sallow tones of the grasses and heather that cover the slopes for much of the year.
- •The summit provides a focused view of the massive twin peaks of Ben More and Stob Binnein to the east, while Ben Lui’s distinctive triple-buttressed corrie is clearly visible to the west.
- •Located near the 'Tyndrum Gap', the hill overlooks the historic Cononish glen, an area famous for its lead mining history and more recent developments in Scottish gold mining.
- •Its position directly above the West Highland Way makes it a popular short ascent for those staying in Tyndrum who want to look down on the trail they have just walked.
- •It serves as an excellent weather gauge for the village below; if the top of this modest hill has disappeared into the clag, it is a safe bet that the higher Munros are having a very bad day indeed.
