Did You Know?
- •The name comes from the Scottish Gaelic Creagan Uaine, meaning 'Green Crags,' a reference to the schist cliffs above the lochan where, in local legend, fairies wash their clothes to give the water its vivid green hue.
- •It serves as an exceptional balcony for viewing the high Cairngorm plateau, offering a specific sightline into Coire Cas and the jagged outlines of Bynack More and the Barns of Bynack to the east.
- •The hill is a key landmark on the popular circuit from Glenmore that passes Ryvoan Bothy, a historic shelter maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association that has served travellers through this pass since the 18th century.
- •Ascending this minor top provides a peaceful alternative to the busy main path below, ensuring you can observe the 'Green Loch' without the accompaniment of the crowds usually found skimming stones at its shore.
