About Stuc Odhar NE Top
This modest heathery shoulder sits in the shadow of its slightly higher parent peak, Stuc Odhar, north of Stirling. Rising above the quiet reaches of Glen Ample, it offers a peaceful alternative to the busy Munros nearby, providing clear, uncrowded views across to the craggy face of Stùc a' Chroin.

Did You Know?
- •The name is Gaelic in origin, with 'Stuc' referring to a steep, projecting hill or crag, and 'odhar' describing its muted, dun-coloured or brownish-grey hue.
- •The hill overlooks Glen Ample, a historic through-route for walkers and drovers that provides a natural pass between Strathyre and the shores of Loch Earn.
- •From this vantage point, you get an excellent perspective on the massive eastern corries of Ben Vorlich and the broken, rocky profile of its higher neighbour, Stùc a' Chroin.
- •It remains blissfully anonymous compared to the neighbouring Munros; the only crowds you are likely to encounter here are the local sheep, who generally seem unimpressed by the summit's lack of official classification.
