About Caisteal Corrach
Rising above the Applecross peninsula, this rocky Torridonian sandstone summit overlooks the dramatic Bealach na Bà. Reaching nearly 600 metres, it offers a rugged feel typical of Wester Ross. It provides a grandstand view across the Inner Sound to Raasay and the jagged skyline of the Black Cuillin on Skye.

- •In Scottish Gaelic, the name translates as the "Unsteady Castle" or "Precarious Castle," likely referring to the shattered sandstone outcrops and steep, crumbling cliffs that define its northern face.
- •The hill sits just north of the famous Bealach na Bà. While often bypassed for the higher peak of Sgùrr a' Chaorachain, it offers a more intimate perspective on the steep, tiered corries of the Applecross interior.
- •On a clear day, the summit offers a commanding view of the Trotternish Ridge on Skye and the iconic silhouettes of the Torridon mountains, specifically Liathach and Beinn Eighe, to the north.
- •Composed of ancient Torridonian sandstone, the hill's horizontal rock bedding creates natural terraces and weathered towers of stone that mimic the battlements of a ruined fortress.
