nameless (Green Quarter) [Hollow Moor East Top]

Rising above the quiet valley of Longsleddale near Sadgill, this understated grassy hump is often crossed en route to the more prominent Shipman Knotts. As a Wainwright Outlying Fell, it offers a peaceful, crowd-free vantage point over the pastoral beauty of Green Quarter and the rugged skyline of the Far Eastern Fells.

• •Although officially 'nameless' in many geographic databases, Alfred Wainwright categorised this summit as part of his Green Quarter Fell circuit, describing the area as a delightful place for a 'stroll on a sunny afternoon.'
• •The fell provides an excellent, low-level perspective of the Kentmere Horseshoe, specifically the steep eastern flanks of the Ill Bell ridge and the head of the Kentmere Reservoir.
• •The name 'Green Quarter' refers to one of the four traditional administrative divisions, or quarters, that made up the ancient parish of Kentmere.
• •Identifying the actual summit can be a test of patience; the top is a broad, mossy plateau where the most prominent landmark is often a nearby drystone wall rather than a traditional cairn.
