Did You Know?
- •The name Seefin is derived from the Irish Suí Finn, meaning 'Finn’s Seat', a reference to the mythical hunter-warrior Finn MacCool who, according to local legend, used these summits as lookouts.
- •Though categorized within the Galty Mountains area, this hill is part of the Ballyhoura range, a chain of Old Red Sandstone hills forming a natural border between County Limerick and County Cork.
- •The summit is most easily reached as part of a high-level ridge walk from the main Seefin peak, allowing walkers to stay above the dense Sitka spruce plantations that cover the lower slopes.
- •From this eastern shoulder, there is a particularly fine view north across the Golden Vale to the long, wooded profile of Slievenamuck.
- •The summit itself is so understated that a walker without a GPS might easily find themselves halfway to Glenosheen before realizing they have already passed the highest point.
