- •The name translates from Welsh as 'Ridge of the Dish,' likely describing the bowl-like shape of the glacial cwm it overlooks. It is frequently referred to as Garnedd Ugain ('Cairn of the Twenty'), a name thought by some to refer to a Roman legion that once passed through the area.
- •As a Hewitt and Nuttall standing at 1065 metres, it is a primary objective for those undertaking the Welsh 3000s challenge. It represents the highest point on the ridge before walkers descend slightly to Bwlch Glas to join the main tourist paths.
