Did You Know?
- •The name translates from Gaelic as 'Red Hill'. While many Scottish peaks share this name, here it is often linked to the way the evening light strikes the southern slopes above Glen Lochay, turning the grasses a deep copper.
- •The peak is most frequently climbed from the road end at Murlaganmore in Glen Lochay, following a hydro track before striking up the southern ridge towards the summit cairn.
- •From the top, you gain an exceptional view of the Ben Lawers massif to the south, while to the west, the jagged profiles of the Crianlarich hills—including Ben More and Stob Binnein—dominate the horizon.
- •As a Marilyn, the hill possesses a prominence of over 150 metres, ensuring that the summit feels like a distinct, airy island elevated above the surrounding deep-cut glens.
- •The climb from Glen Lochay is famously efficient and steep, seemingly designed for walkers who prefer to get the vertical gain over with quickly rather than lingering in the lower bogs.
