About Cloghercor South
Rising above the rugged moorland of western Donegal, this modest Tump offers a wild, peat-cracked landscape typical of the Glenties area. Its position provides an excellent vantage point over the Gweebarra Estuary and across to the northern Blue Stack Mountains, making it a rewarding, if exceptionally boggy, hike through the northwestern uplands.

Did You Know?
- •The name likely derives from the Irish 'Cloch', meaning stone, and 'Cor', signifying a round hill or a turn in the landscape, reflecting the undulating, stony character of this part of Donegal.
- •It sits just south of the higher Cloghercor summit, within a landscape that has become a significant site for wind energy production in the Republic of Ireland.
- •From the summit, walkers can look northeast toward the distinctive silhouettes of Errigal and Muckish, which dominate the skyline of the Derryveagh Mountains.
- •A visit to this summit is often less of a walk and more of a strategic negotiation with some of West Donegal’s most enthusiastic and deep-reaching bog-water.
