About The Scrape
Rising above the quiet Manor Valley south of Peebles, this high, rounded dome offers a classic Southern Upland experience. It is a land of wide grassy slopes and deep solitude. The broad summit provides a grandstand view across the Tweedsmuir hills, looking towards the bulky forms of Broad Law and Pykestone Hill.

Did You Know?
- •The name is thought to derive from the Scots term for a steep, bare slope or a place where the hillside has been 'scraped' by erosion or landslips.
- •It is most frequently climbed as part of a high-level circuit from the Manor Water, often linked via a broad, grassy ridge to its neighbours, Pykestone Hill and Drumelzier Law.
- •From the summit cairn, the view to the north-east follows the winding course of the River Tweed as it flows towards Peebles, framed by the distant Moorfoot Hills.
- •Despite the somewhat aggressive name, the terrain is predominantly soft grass and peat, meaning the 'scrape' is more likely to be a reference to the landscape's shape than any physical difficulty underfoot.
