- •The name is likely derived from the Gaelic 'Tarr', meaning a 'belly' or the projecting part of a hill, a common descriptor for the rounded, bulky landforms found throughout the Ochils.
- •It forms a central part of the 'Glen Sherup Round,' a classic high-level circuit that offers a quieter alternative to the more frequented paths above Dollar or Tillicoultry.
- •The summit provides an excellent vantage point for spotting the three Forth bridges to the southeast, as well as the distinctive volcanic outline of North Berwick Law on the horizon.
- •Along with Blairdenon Hill, this is one of only two summits in the range classified as Donalds that sit directly on the historic county boundary between Clackmannanshire and Perth and Kinross.
- •Navigation across the plateau is significantly aided by a long fence line that tracks the ridge; it is a remarkably reliable guide in the mist, provided you don't mind negotiating the occasional peat hag to stay beside it.
