About Taobh na Coille
Rising steeply above the village of Strathyre, this Tump offers a quieter alternative to the busier neighbouring summits. Its lower slopes are cloaked in dense plantation, giving way to a grassy, undulating ridge. From the summit, you'll earn clear views across Loch Lubnaig towards the rugged profiles of Ben Ledi and Stob a' Choin.

Did You Know?
- •The name translates from Gaelic as 'side of the wood' or 'edge of the forest,' likely a reference to the historic tree line on these steep slopes above the Strathyre valley.
- •It occupies a prominent position on the long ridge between Strathyre and Glen Ample, often visited by walkers traversing the high ground toward Beinn Each to the south.
- •From the summit, the view north is dominated by the massive south faces of Ben More and Stob Binnein, which tower over the intervening Braes of Balquhidder.
- •The dense commercial forestry on the lower slopes ensures that for the first few hundred metres of ascent, your primary view will be almost exclusively comprised of very nearby pine needles.
