About Larriston Fells
Rising above the Liddesdale valley near the Anglo-Scottish border, this expansive Marilyn offers a true sense of Border solitude. The terrain is a mix of rough moorland and forestry, leading to a summit trig pillar with far-reaching views across the Kielder Forest and towards the distant Cheviot Hills.

Did You Know?
- •The hill takes its name from Larriston, once the site of a tower house belonging to the Armstrongs, one of the most powerful and feared of the Border Reiver clans who dominated these Marches in the 16th century.
- •From the summit trig point, the view is dominated to the south by the vast, dark-green canopy of Kielder Forest and the shining expanse of Kielder Water just across the English border.
- •Despite its modest height, its classification as a Marilyn—a peak with at least 150 metres of prominence—ensures a steady trickle of dedicated baggers to a summit that would otherwise see very few visitors.
- •If you enjoy the sensation of cold peat water breaching your boot line in a place where you are unlikely to see another human soul all day, Larriston Fells will not disappoint.
