About Creag Riabhach
Rising within the Forest of Atholl, this heather-clad Tump offers a quieter alternative to the nearby Munros. Overlooking the deep trench of Glen Tilt, the summit provides a clear perspective of the Beinn a' Ghlo massif to the east and the sprawling, remote plateaus of the central Grampians.

Did You Know?
- •The name Creag Riabhach comes from Scottish Gaelic and translates as 'Brindled Crag' or 'Grizzled Crag,' a description of the speckled, textured appearance of the rock and heather on its slopes.
- •The hill is frequently climbed as part of a longer circuit including Beinn a' Ghuallich, providing a grandstand view of the Highland Main Line and the A9 snaking through the pass below.
- •From the summit, walkers are rewarded with an exceptionally clear view across Glen Tilt to the stony, pale quartzite peaks of Beinn a' Ghlo.
- •Despite sitting at nearly 780 metres, the hill remains largely unvisited by those focused on the Munros, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching, particularly for red grouse and golden plover.
- •It is the kind of summit where you can spend an entire afternoon in peak season and find that the only thing interested in your sandwiches is a passing raven.
