Did You Know?
- •The summit is home to the remains of Boon Hill hillfort, an Iron Age settlement that takes advantage of the clear lines of sight over the surrounding Lauderdale countryside.
- •Its name is shared with the nearby Boon Farm, situated on the hill's lower western slopes, a common naming convention for smaller peaks in the Scottish Borders.
- •The panoramic views from the top are particularly effective for spotting the distinctive silhouettes of the Eildon Hills to the south and the Lammermuir plateau to the north.
- •Despite its modest height, the hill qualifies as a Hump—a classification for any hill with a drop of at least 100 metres on all sides.
- •While the 1980s TV detective of the same name was known for his motorbike, the terrain here is much better suited to a sturdy pair of walking boots and a tolerance for inquisitive sheep.
