About Bioda Buidhe
Standing high above the Quiraing on the Trotternish Peninsula, this Marilyn offers one of Skye's most disproportionate effort-to-reward ratios. The easy climb from the Bealach Ollasgairte leads to dramatic cliff edges, where the grassy summit provides a grandstand view over the landslip’s needles, towers, and hidden plateaus.

Did You Know?
- •The name comes from the Scottish Gaelic Bioda Buidhe, translating as 'Yellow Peak'. This likely refers to the colour of the grasses and mosses that cloak its slopes, which take on a golden hue in the evening light or during the winter months.
- •While most visitors to the area focus on the path into the Quiraing, the short ascent to this summit provides a far superior perspective of the entire landslip, including the distinctive 'Prison' and 'Needle' formations viewed from above.
- •On a clear day, the summit provides an expansive panorama across the Minch to the mountains of Harris and North Uist, while the mainland peaks of Wester Ross and Torridon are visible to the east.
- •It forms the highest point of the cliffs directly above the Quiraing, part of the largest landslip in Britain, which stretches the entire length of the Trotternish Ridge.
- •It is perhaps the only place on Skye where you can enjoy world-class mountain scenery while remaining within earshot of the car alarms at the Quiraing car park.
