About Beinn na Feusaige

Rising steeply above the Achnasheen to Lochcarron road, this Graham offers a surprisingly airy perspective on the nearby Torridon giants. While the initial slopes can be boggy, the ridge provides an earned, front-row seat to the spectacular quartzite screes of Fuar Tholl and the wild peaks of the Monar Forest.

Did You Know?

  • The name translates from Scottish Gaelic as the 'Hill of the Beard,' likely a reference to the appearance of the moss-covered crags or the long, grey lichens that cling to the summit rocks.
  • From the summit, walkers are treated to a perfectly framed view of Coire Lair, showcasing the jagged profile of Fuar Tholl and the massive sandstone terraces of Beinn Liath Mhòr.
  • The hill sits on a significant geographical divide; rain falling on its eastern slopes eventually reaches the North Sea via the River Conon, while water on the west flows toward the Atlantic via Loch Carron.
  • Despite the name translating as 'Hill of the Beard', the terrain is notably less well-groomed than the title suggests, typically requiring a direct struggle through unkempt heather to reach the ridge.
