About Beinn na Drise
Rising above the southern shores of Broadford Bay, this rugged Skye Marilyn offers a surprisingly wild character for its modest height. The ascent through heather and occasional bog rewards walkers with an exceptional perspective across Loch Slapin towards the granite domes of the Red Cuillin and the distant, serrated ridge of Blà Bheinn.

Did You Know?
- •The name Beinn na Drise translates from Scottish Gaelic as 'Hill of the Brambles' or 'Hill of the Briars', a reference to the prickly vegetation often found on its lower flanks.
- •The summit provides a distinct vantage point over the sea lochs of Eishort and Slapin, offering a clear view of the transition between the island’s limestone greenery and its volcanic mountains.
- •It is most commonly approached from the small settlement of Heaste to the east, using a track that provides a relatively straightforward line toward the summit ridge.
- •Despite the name suggesting a thorny struggle, the more traditional Skye challenge is the initial negotiation of the peat hags that guard the lower approaches.
