About Beinn na Cloiche

Rising steeply from the western shores of Loch Linnhe, this rugged Ardgour Graham offers a quieter alternative to the busy peaks across the water. Its rocky slopes demand effort, but the summit provides an exceptional perspective of Ben Nevis and the Mamores, framed by the deep trench of the Great Glen.

Did You Know?

  • The name Beinn na Cloiche is Gaelic for 'Mountain of the Stone', a reference to the weathered rocky outcrops and erratic boulders that characterize its upper slopes.
  • The hill is frequently climbed as part of a circular route from the Corran Ferry, often paired with the neighbouring Sgùrr na h-Eanchainne to take in the dramatic views over the Corran Narrows.
  • From the summit, the view eastward offers one of the best perspectives of the 'back' of the Mamores, specifically the long ridges of Binnein Mòr and Na Gruagaichean.
  • Despite sitting directly across the water from Fort William, the hill's lack of established paths means you are far more likely to encounter red deer than other walkers.
