Did You Know?

  • The name translates from Scottish Gaelic as the 'Mountain of the Pissing', a blunt reference to the numerous waterfalls that cascade down its steep southern cliffs into the valley after heavy rainfall.
  • Its summit offers one of the finest perspectives in the Northwest Highlands, looking directly across Gleann na Muice to the massive sandstone fortress of Slioch and the jagged 'Triple Buttress' of Coire Mhic Fhearchair on Beinn Eighe.
  • Although it looks like a sheer wall from the valley floor, a hidden path—the old pony track—zig-zags cleverly through the crags of the southern face, originally built to provide access to the high deer forests of Letterewe.
  • Despite the lung-bursting initial climb from the glen, the summit is so broad and flat that you might find yourself wandering for some time just to prove to the GPS that you have actually reached the highest point.
