Eastside Heights

Rising to 593 metres in the Moorfoot Hills, this grassy summit sits on the eastern edge of the range south of Edinburgh. The terrain is typical Moorfoot moorland – rolling, heather-clad, and crossed by old drove routes. A Donald Dewey and Tump, it offers solitude and wide moorland horizons rather than dramatic relief.

• •The name 'Eastside Heights' is a rare example of a purely descriptive English toponym in the Scottish uplands, reflecting its position on the eastern flank of the Moorfoot range – a notable contrast to the Gaelic and Scots names found on neighbouring hills.
