Dun Beag

A modest Dodd situated in the southern Highlands near Pitlochry, rising to 573 metres above Glen Errochty. The hill occupies quiet ground north of Loch Errochty, offering straightforward walking across heathery slopes. Its summit provides a useful vantage point over the reservoir and surrounding forest plantations, though it sees relatively few visitors compared to nearby Munros.

• •The name Dun Beag derives from Scottish Gaelic, meaning 'small fort' or 'little dun', suggesting the presence of an ancient fortified structure on or near the summit, though no substantial remains are evident today.
• •The hill overlooks Loch Errochty, a large reservoir constructed in the 1950s as part of the Tummel Valley hydroelectric scheme, which drowned the original glen floor and former settlements.
• •Dun Beag is often climbed in conjunction with its higher neighbour Meall Tairneachan, a Corbett lying to the northwest, with both hills sharing similar heathery terrain and panoramic views across the Atholl hills.
