Beinn na Gucaig SW Top

A subsidiary summit on the southwestern ridge of Beinn na Gucaig, rising to 575 metres above the slopes overlooking Loch Etive. This Dodd and Tump occupies rough, typically Highland terrain, typically climbed as part of a longer traverse rather than as a destination in its own right. The summit cairn sits amid tussocky grass and scattered rock.

• •The name Beinn na Gucaig derives from Scottish Gaelic, with 'gucag' most likely referring to a prominent knuckle or rounded lump, descriptive of the hill's form when viewed from lower ground near Loch Etive.
• •This subsidiary top sits roughly 500 metres southwest of the main summit of Beinn na Gucaig, separated by a shallow col that adds just enough prominence to earn its Tump classification.
• •The hill overlooks Glen Etive to the west, one of Scotland's most photographed glens, with the Buachaille Etive Beag massif visible to the south across the valley floor.
