Did You Know?
- •The name is derived from the Gaelic 'Creag nam Mial', which translates as the 'Crag of the beasts' or, more colloquially, 'Crag of the ticks', likely referring to the deer and wildlife that frequent these quiet slopes.
- •This summit is a subsidiary top of the main Creag nam Mial (562m), situated about a kilometre to the east; both are often climbed together as part of a circuit exploring the high ground between Glen Isla and Glen Shee.
- •From the summit, walkers are rewarded with a clear view south down the green corridor of Glen Isla, contrasting with the more rugged profiles of the higher Mounth hills to the north.
- •In keeping with its name, it is the sort of place where a seasoned walker might spend more time checking their socks for stowaway parasites than they do consulting their map.
