Rising to 561 metres in the central Highlands near Loch Earn, this modest summit offers a quiet alternative to the better-known Munros that dominate the surrounding skyline. The grassy slopes and open terrain make for straightforward walking, while the summit provides views across Strathearn towards Ben Vorlich and Stùc a' Chroin.

• •The name derives from Scottish Gaelic, meaning 'small hill' or 'little lump' – 'meall' referring to a rounded hill and 'beag' meaning small, an apt description of its modest stature compared to neighbouring peaks.
• •The hill sits in a landscape shaped by glaciation during the last ice age, with the nearby Glen Ogle and Glen Ample carved by powerful ice flows that left the distinctive U-shaped valleys visible from the summit.
