About Findowie Hill West Top
Rising above the quiet moorland of Strathbraan, this rounded Perthshire shoulder offers a solitude rarely found on the busier Munros. The terrain is largely pathless heather and peat, leading to a modest summit with expansive views across to the distinctive peak of Schiehallion and the rolling tops of the Forest of Clunie.

Did You Know?
- •The name Findowie likely stems from the Gaelic 'Fionn-achadh', meaning 'fair field' or 'white field', referring to the light-coloured grasses or quartz found on the surrounding lower slopes.
- •This top is often visited as a secondary point while traversing the main Findowie Hill summit, part of the undulating ridge that divides the River Braan from the valley of the River Tay to the north.
- •From this western vantage point, the view south looks directly down into the mouth of the Sma’ Glen, a dramatic glacial breach in the hills where the River Almond flows.
- •While the 571-metre height looks respectable on paper, the lack of a formal classification means you are more likely to share the summit with a curious grouse than another human.
