About Meall Mor
Rising above the southern side of Glen Dochart, this expansive hill offers a quieter alternative to the more popular peaks nearby. Its broad, grassy slopes lead to a summit with clear, earned views, specifically toward the steep eastern face of Ben Challuim and the winding waters of the River Dochart below.

Did You Know?
- •The name is derived from the Scottish Gaelic 'Meall Mòr', which translates literally as 'Big Rounded Hill'. In the lexicon of Highland topography, a 'meall' usually denotes a hill that lacks a sharp peak or defined ridges, favouring a bulky, dome-like appearance.
- •The most common approach begins from the hamlet of Auchlyne in Glen Dochart, following the course of the Allt nan Saighdeir. This route takes walkers through typical Highland moorland, transitioning into pathless terrain on the upper slopes.
- •The summit provides an excellent vantage point for inspecting the complex northern corries of the Crianlarich hills, offering a clear view of the massive V-shaped profile of the pass between the giants of Ben More and Stob Binnein.
- •For a peak whose name translates as 'The Big Hill', its stature is somewhat undermined by the 1,174-metre Ben More standing directly across the glen, proving that in the Highlands, 'big' is entirely a matter of perspective.
