- •The name derives from the Irish Suí Finn, meaning 'Finn’s Seat', a reference to the legendary hunter-warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill, who was frequently depicted in folklore as resting on prominent hilltops to oversee his hounds.
- •Sitting at the south-western edge of the range, the summit offers a clear, unobstructed view of the Funshion River valley and the village of Kilbehenny, which sits directly below the hill’s southern slopes.
- •To the northeast, the view is dominated by the imposing south-western face of Galtymore and the deep glen of the Attychraan River, offering a unique perspective of the range's highest peaks from a lower vantage point.
- •The approach often utilizes the network of forestry tracks near the site of the former Galtee Castle, an 18th-century hunting lodge that once served as a base for exploring these southern slopes.
- •Despite being one of the most accessible points in the Galtys, its modest height ensures it remains a peaceful alternative to the crowded ‘horseshoe’ routes further east.
