About Seefin E Top
Rising from the peat-rich Boggeragh Mountains near Ballinagree, this Tump marks the eastern shoulder of the higher Seefin. The terrain is characteristic of North Cork’s upland plateaus: a blend of tough heather and damp blanket bog that rewards walkers with clear perspectives over the Lee Valley towards the Derrynasaggart Mountains.

Did You Know?
- •The name Seefin is an anglicisation of the Irish 'Suí Finn', meaning 'Finn’s Seat', a reference to the legendary hunter-warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill who was often depicted resting on high summits between hunts.
- •This hill sits within the Boggeragh Mountains, a range defined by Old Red Sandstone and extensive blanket bog that forms a natural barrier between the Blackwater and Lee valleys.
- •From the summit, the prominent silhouette of Musheramore is visible to the west, while the distant, distinctive twin peaks of the Paps of Anu can be spotted on the Kerry border.
- •In keeping with its Tump classification, the summit is a modest rise in the peat; in thick North Cork mist, the 'Top' can be surprisingly elusive, often requiring a spirited game of 'find the highest clump of heather'.
