Mynydd Perfedd

Sitting quietly between Carnedd y Filiast and Foel-goch, this rounded Nuttall offers a gentler character than the jagged Glyderau peaks nearby. Its grassy summit plateau provides a fine vantage point over the deep blue of Marchlyn Mawr reservoir and across the Nant Ffrancon valley toward the sprawling Carneddau range.

• •The name is Welsh for 'Middle Mountain', a reference to its central position on the northern ridge of the Glyderau, situated between the Llanberis Pass and the Ogwen Valley.
• •From the summit, walkers have a direct bird's-eye view into the high cwm of Marchlyn Mawr, which serves as the upper reservoir for the Dinorwig pumped-storage hydroelectric station.
• •The terrain here is notably different from the rocky 'moonscape' of the main Glyder peaks; it is largely composed of high-altitude grassland and moss, providing a softer walking surface before the ridge narrows toward the south.
• •While its neighbours boast dramatic rock towers and cantilever stones, Mynydd Perfedd’s primary contribution to the range is providing a wide, flat space where you can finally unfold a map without it being shredded by a jagged crag.
